Collaborating For Change

Assess-Works© aims to simplify processes and procedures for businesses and organizations while retaining data for future decision-making. We can create user-friendly forms connected to a database for various purposes such as intake, applications, and accounting. Additionally, we provide information and advocacy for housing rights, including transitional, sober, shared, private, and other housing types. Our primary objective is to identify and address the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk through advocacy, data analysis, and learning from experiences. Keeping eyes on everything that really matters! We can also assist in creating digital agreements and intake processes and completing all necessary documentation to secure funding for your organization while fully complying with all regulations, laws, and civil codes.

9-19-2024 - This project came to life because of a trend that was noticed in the middle of 2023. This trend created an endless loop for several individuals, putting them back into treatment centers or on the street. This has been journaled about and recorded to provide information to create a change, give data to make plans, and put procedures in play to provide ideas on improving and eliminating this occurrence. This has not been developed to discredit anyone or anything. It was designed to “squash” the past and move forward with new collaborative insight built from within. Stay “tuned in” for stories that don’t point out any organizations but will be written in a way that goes along with the mission of this project, “learning from experiences.” If you are currently living in an environment that you find toxic or challenging in any way, there are plenty of other options out there. You can simply search for other housing options at https://www.chirpla.org/. If you feel that you are currently being harassed by your landlord in Los Angeles, call the Los Angeles Housing Department at 1-866-557-7368 as soon as possible to report the situation. If the situation is out of control and you are in an emergency, call 911. Make sure to have any mail, agreements, or documents with your name and current address to prove that you are a resident at the property.

Advocacy

Click here for additional information!   In case of an emergency where you require immediate assistance, such as being kicked out or locked out of a residence, please call 911. Agencies, agents, managers, or landowners may often engage in illegal evictions. The Police Department can typically address this promptly, even if you are in Transitional and Shared Living. Make sure to tell them you live there as a resident. If the issue is not resolved, please email arianamasklow@yahoo.com with specific details, and we will help connect you with the necessary resources.

Collecting Data for Change

Click here to read more about Data for Change!   Let's collaborate to determine the specific data you want to collect in order to drive progress within your organization. Our goal is to take your organization to the next level globally, overcoming unforeseen and uncontrollable challenges. We can achieve this by using simple applications and a database to start creating charts and analytics that highlight your organization, inspiring donations, or transformative gifts to turn your vision into reality. Stay tuned for more information. To support this effort, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Learning from Experiences

Click here to read entries!  In the middle of 2023, I came to realize that not everything can be fixed with data alone. Some issues require a deeper understanding gained from firsthand experience. The objective of this project is to conduct interviews, gather surveys, and share stories while ensuring the option for anonymity. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with writers who can convert these experiences into content that doesn't reveal the identities of individuals or organizations involved. This project will take a collaborative approach to support the unsheltered community. Similar to how ledgers are used in accounting, we will identify areas of focus and provide digital results to aid in planning and gaining insights into the situation. Just like a malfunctioning engine can only be fixed by examining its internal workings, we aim to create a continuous running "engine" that contributes to making the world a better place on a global scale.

Support an initiative to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and support Kamala Harris

Click here to support a president for change!   It is essential that we unite and uphold our constitutional rights as Americans. We are born with these rights and are free to be ourselves. If we come together and vote for a president who will uphold the rights established from the outset, we can live as our true selves and receive the necessary support to allow love to flourish. This reminds me of my favorite quote from RuPaul..., “if you cannot love yourself, then how in the hell are you going to love anyone else.”

California Tenants guide

This document outlines the standard guidelines for tenants in California. For example, if a lease or contract for your place of residence contains terms that are not in line with an ordinance, civil code, or law, then the term is invalid. In some cases, if the lease or contract contains many invalid terms, a person could request the entire contract to be void in court. In the event that you are paying for a space in transitional housing, you are considered a tenant. Therefore, any lease clauses that conflict with tenant rights are void, and your landlord must adhere to proper eviction procedures. Be cautious, as many transitional houses may deceive you into leaving by claiming you are a participant!

Below is an excerpt from page 5 of the tenant guidelines under special situations:

"Some residents may actually occupy 'transitional housing.' Transitional housing provides lodging and services to formerly homeless persons for periods of 30 days to 24 months. Residents of transitional housing, who do not pay rent to occupy that housing, are generally referred to as 'participants' and are subject to specific behavior rules and eviction procedures.12 If rent is paid, then they will be considered tenants." - Click here to access the California Tenants Guide!

Have you been overcharged on your deposit or has your deposit not been returned in California?

Security deposits are meant to be held by the landlord until you move out. For the landlord to keep the deposit, they must have a picture with details and date from before you moved in, included within the details of the image or with a camera that prints the date on the image. As long as you clean the property reasonably well (it doesn't have to be spotless), your landlord must return your deposit within 21 days. Click here to view a resource brochure for security deposits.    Click here to read an article by the LA Times about rent being capped at only one times the rent.
